Sometime between 1945 and 1948 I can remember sitting on my own at one of these tables when everyone else had left because I would not eat my two leeks which made me heave. I don't think I ever eat them despite the Nuns' effots. This is a very vivid memory but is the only unpleasantness I can remember about the school, everything else left a happy memory.

I as at St. Joseph's from 1960-64. It was a very unhappy experience. The food was disgusting, the rules were petty - one could only walk on the right-hand side of the corridor - and the nuns were narrow-minded and sarcastic. A less Christian attitude to life, let alone vulnerable pupils, one could hardly imagine. I was glad when I heard it had been pulled down.

Hi everyone who may have been at St.Josephs during the time I was there from 64-68.I totally agree with some of the above comments. The nuns were detatched and in my mind very controlling.I was always undermined and remember being punished with a ruler on many occasions.Does anyone remember a fellow boarder Diane Williams? Also in my year were Sandra Hanson,Sandra Brooker, and Pamela Botting. They were the lucky day girls who were able to go home each evening, unlike us boarders who had to endure 6 weeks of being incercerated in a prison like enviroment.Sorry folks, but not happy memories for me!

Me, Victoria Garcia, a boarder from Cartagena, Colombia, 1966 and 1967, happy memories, nuns were nuns. I grew up with them till fifth form at St. Joseph´s. Mary Poole, nee Martin, I have the fondest memories of you. Very supportive of your friends. You were a very nice girl, you and Diana Williams, best of friends. Please if you may, check the group I created in Facebook, it is called St Joseph´s Convent, Redhill, Surrey, England. We are posting photos, and lots of comments remembering our days at school.
